What is a level gauge with remote magnetic flap plate?
The remote magnetic flap level gauge (also known as: remote magnetic flap level gauge) is an intelligent level measuring instrument that integrates a remote transmitter module into the traditional magnetic flap level gauge. It can provide intuitive local liquid level display via flipping columns or flipping plates (no power supply, visible to the naked eye), and transmit liquid level data to the control room (DCS/PLC system) via 4-20mA current signals, RS485 communication, or HART protocol, enabling remote monitoring, alarm interlock, and data recording.
Working principle of the remote magnetic flap level gauge
This product operates based on the principle of a communicator and magnetic coupling:
On-site display: The float inside the main tube rises and falls with the liquid level, and the magnet inside the float drives the external flipping column to flip (red and white colors), making the scene clear at a glance.
Remote signals: bundled or in-core reed tube-resistor chain or magnetostrictive remote transmitters are tied to the outside of the main tube. When the float moves, the magnetic field changes the reed transistor's on/off, causing the resistance value to change linearly. This is converted by the circuit into a 4-20mA standard signal (HART can be stacked), or a digital signal is output via RS485.
Core advantages of the level meter with remote magnetic flap plate
Dual display for redundancy and reliability: Even if power is cut off or the remote transmission module fails, the on-site flipping column will still display normal indications, ensuring operational safety.
Remote Alarm, Intelligent Control: High and low alarm points can be set, linked with solenoid valves, pumps, and other equipment to achieve automated control.
Wide range of applicable working conditions:
Material options include: 304, 316L, 304+PTFE lining, PP plastic, etc., resistant to acid and alkali corrosion.
Parameter range: Temperature -40°C~450°C, maximum pressure up to 10MPa (or even higher).
Explosion-proof certification: Exd IICT6 explosion-proof box is optional, suitable for flammable and explosive environments such as petroleum and chemical industries.
Stable and precise: Accuracy is usually ±5mm~±10mm, no false liquid levels, good repeatability.
Easy installation: Side-mounted or top-mounted flange connection, can be equipped with drain and exhaust valves.
Typical application scenarios for level meters with remote magnetic flap plates
Petrochemicals: remote monitoring of liquid level in storage tanks, reactors, and distillation towers.
Power industry: boiler steam drums, deaerators, condenser liquid level measurement.
Water treatment: water tanks, acid-base storage tanks, and water purification tank level control.
Pharmaceuticals and food: remote level monitoring that meets hygiene-grade requirements.
Metallurgy/Environmental Protection: Wastewater pools, cooling towers, and other harsh working conditions.
How to choose the right level gauge with remote magnetic flap plate?
When selecting models, please confirm the following parameters and provide them to the manufacturer:
Measurement range: center distance between upper and lower flanges (mm).
Name and properties of the medium: whether corrosive, crystallized, or viscous.
Operating temperature and pressure: maximum/minimum temperature and pressure values.
Remote signal types: 4-20mA (two-wire/four-wire), RS485 (Modbus), or switch alarm.
Material requirements: 304, 316L, PTFE liner, Hastelloy alloy, etc.
Electrical interfaces: M20× 1.5, 1/2NPT, etc. Whether explosion-proof is required.
Connection methods: side-mounted flange (DN20/DN25, etc.) or top-mounted flange.
Common faults and maintenance of level meters with remote magnetic flap plates
Frequently Asked Questions Possible reasons Solution suggestions Remote transmission signals have no output Wiring errors / transmitter damage Check the 24V power supply, test the resistance, or replace the module Remote signal skipping or jamming Float jamming / reed tube damage Clean the main pipe or replace the remote transmission rod The flipping column on site did not move Float demagnetization / medium crystallization replace the float or heat tracing insulation 4-20mA signal has large deviation Zero/range drift Recalibrate, or test by pressing the reed tube with a magnet Regular maintenance: It is recommended to clean the inside of the main tube every 6-12 months, check the float surface for any deposits, and verify the linearity of the remote transmission output.
Why choose our level gauge with remote magnetic flap plate?
Full specification customization: can produce non-standard flanges, special lengths, and high temperature and high pressure, with fast delivery times (7-15 days).
High-quality components: The float uses imported magnets with low demagnetization rate; Reed pipes use Japanese/German brands and have a long service life.
Full factory inspection: Each product undergoes pressure testing, signal linearity calibration, and pressure leak detection.
Professional services: Providing model selection guidance, installation and commissioning guidance, and after-sales warranty for 1-2 years.
